Community Initiatives

The Khemka family’s heritage lies in supporting and transforming livelihoods. The family’s core values and experience benefit not only the stakeholders, partners and companies they work with, but also the economies, societies, and communities in which they operate. The Khemka family has an established history in the field of philanthropy and community service, both locally and internationally, through various ongoing projects and programmes.

The Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation

The Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation focuses on strategic philanthropy, aiming to create cross-sectoral cooperation and infrastructure development within India and abroad. The areas of the Foundation’s focus lie in sustainability, social entrepreneurship, welfare, healthcare, and education. Although the Foundation has been active globally and across India, some of the key programmes run by NJKF are centred around Nabha (Punjab) and in five districts in the state of Bihar, the ancestral geographies of the Khemka family.

The Nabha Foundation

The Nabha Foundation focuses on the transformation of rural communities in India, through a holistic and integrated rural development model. The Foundation combines strategic financial investments with localised initiatives for social and economic empowerment, including initiatives in education, health, and heritage conservation, focused in Nabha and other parts of Punjab.

The Global Education & Leadership Foundation (tGELF)

Working with global partners, tGELF seeks to empower a new generation of ethical, altruistic leaders to emerge around the world. tGELF’s curriculum reaches over 3 million children in 14 countries. Some examples include Global Citizen India in 2016, The Global Entrepreneurship Summit in 2017, and the Entreprepreneurship World Cup in 2019. tGELF launched Entrepreneurship Sports Generation in 2020, a global entrepreneurship ecosystem that has reached over 600,000 entrepreneurs and curated USD 500+ million in rewards. The Foundation also works to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Youthreach

Youthreach develops, supports and encourages voluntary initiatives around changemaking. Youthreach primarily reaches underprivileged children and youth, seeking to tackle environmental issues and improve livelihoods.

Global Grantmaking:

The Khemka family has helped establish several significant institutions in India and abroad.

Indian School of Business

Founded in 1999, ISB is one of India’s flagship management institutions and is the first business school in India to be one of the top-ranked globally. The ISB is committed to creating such leaders through its innovative programmes, outstanding faculty, and thought leadership. The ISB is a not-for-profit organisation funded by private corporations, foundations, and individuals from around the world who believe in its vision. The Khemka family supported the idea of the Indian School of Business from the start, and Uday Khemka is an ISB board member.

Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO

The initial idea to build a world-class business school, modelled on the ISB in Hyderabad, was presented by Nand Khemka to the Russian Government in the early 2000s. Based on this initiative and with the leadership of Ruben Vardanian and several Russian and international business leaders, the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO was established in 2006, and has become the leading business school in Russia. Shiv Khemka is a founding board member of the school.

Other Initiatives

The Khemka family has also helped establish a number of other institutions in India such as the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) with leading partners such as the Gates Foundation, and Brookings India with a number of India’s leading business families. The Centre for Advanced Studies on India at the University of Pennsylvania has also been supported by the family for its important work.
